The Kangaroo Humor Magazine

Scope and Contents Students debuted The Kangaroo humor magazine in April 1937, the same year the University of Kansas City's student council moved to adopt the kangaroo as the university's official mascot. City Spark Radio Program Collection

City Sparks was a radio program on KCUR that broadcast concerts of Kansas City musicians and bands. The collection holds the multitrack tapes from the performances and the stereo mixes for broadcast as well. Collection Donor, Tom Mardikes, produced and recorded the shows. The audio items are supplemented with paper files consisting of technical recording documention, release forms, and articles related to the musicians and bands.

The Helen Werr collection was anonymously donated to the Department of Special Collections in May 2017. It is dedicated to Werr’s career as a singer during the 1940s under the pseudonym, Ellen White.
