The major portion of Lois Wheeler Snow's papers relate to the 1982 symposium held in China commemorating the tenth anniversary of Edgar Snow's death. It consists primarily of printed material.

Malcolm Lyon Photographs

Scope and Contents

This material was given to Dr. William Woodward by his mother's cousin, Malcolm W. Lyon, and donated to E. Grey Dimond.

This material consists of photographs of China taken by Malcolm Lyon from 1925 to approximately 1927 when he was in the U.S. Navy. These photographs predate when Edgar Snow arrived in China for the first time in 1928. The photographs were originally stored in photo albums and disbound for easier preservation and access.

Nym Wales Papers

Scope and Contents The Nym Wales papers document American journalist Helen Foster Snow's activities when she reported from China in the 1930s under the name Nym Wales. She reported on the developing Chinese Civil War, the Korean independence movement, and the Second Sino-Japanese War. The materials include her reminiscences of her time reporting in China between 1933 through 1937. This folder contains excerpts from writer Wang Fu Shih's book Wao Guo Ji Zhe Xi Bei Yin Xiang Ji (Impressions of the North-west by a Foreign Journalist), his speech commemorating the 80th birthday of Edgar Snow, and copies of three letters to Wang from Helen Foster Snow and James Bertram.
