Yao Family Papers
Scope and Contents
Dorothy Yao donated folders 1 and 2, which contain a letter written by Edgar Snow to her husband Yao Hsin-nung, journalist, in September 1969; and a poem her daughter Hilda H. Yao wrote in memory of her father when he passed away in 1991.
Hilda H. Yao donated folder 3 in 2005. Included in the documents file are photographs of Edgar Snow with the Yao family; correspondence between Snow and Yao Hsin-nung; a elegy to Lu Xun written in Chinese and translated into English by Hilda Yao; and an inscription Snow wrote to Hilda Yao when she was a child. Hilda referred to Snow as "Uncle Ed." Folder 3 contains a contents list that gives context to the items inside the folder.
