Scope and Contents

This series contains course catalogues and bulletins from the previous iterations of the UMKC Conservatory: The Kansas City Conservatory of Music (or the Conservatory of Music of Kansas City); the Horner Institute of Fine Arts; the Cranston School of Music; the Horner Institute-Kansas City Conservatory; and the Kansas City-Horner Conservatory of Music. The publications date from 1906 to 1957, from before the institution merged with the University of Kansas City in 1959.

This collection contains yearbooks from the Kansas City Conservatory of Music dating from before and after the institution merged with the University of Kansas City. Most of the yearbooks date from before the merge.

Scope and Contents Students debuted The Kangaroo humor magazine in April 1937, the same year the University of Kansas City's student council moved to adopt the kangaroo as the university's official mascot. The kangaroo did not appear on the magazine's cover until the second issue in May 1937. By Fall 1937, Kasey Kangaroo was born as the official mascot.
