Helen Werr (Ellen White) Collection
The Helen Werr collection was anonymously donated to the Department of Special Collections in May 2017. It is dedicated to Werr’s career as a singer during the 1940s under the pseudonym, Ellen White. There are photos of a young Werr, as well as photos of her on tour in the 1940s. Additionally there are newspaper clippings, contracts, scripts from shows, a scrapbook of her performing career, and recordings.

Joe Gradinger Collection
The collection consists of compact cassettes of live jazz music recorded by Joe Gradinger. Recordings include the Topeka Jazz Workshop, Wichita Jazz Festival, KC Jazz Workshop All Stars, Mid-American Jazz Festival, Denver Jazz Party, and performances by Jay McShann, Milt Abel, Priscilla Bowman, Woody Heman, Dave Brubeck, Zoot Simms, and Marilyn Maye.
Joe Heyen Collection
The collection consists of cassette tapes and CDs of live concerts at Penn Valley Park, Crown Center, Line Creek Park and the Cowtown Ballroom in Kansas City. The dates of the concerts range from 1973-1979. There is also a copy of the 2009 documentary "Cowtown Ballroom… Sweet Jesus" which was produced and directed by Heyen in the collection.
John B. Gage Collection
Consists of audio recordings of John Gage, Mayor of Kansas City, including speeches, Gage recalling his past, and radio broadcasts of events and panel discussions with Gage and his administration.
John Benson Brooks Collection
A portion of the collection consists of recordings of performances and compositions by John Benson Brooks on lacquer discs. A large part of the collection are recordings of music, broadcasts, documentaries, etc. that Brooks had recorded to open reel audiotape.
John Kander Collection
The collection consists of lacquer disc recordings of John Harold Kander, American composer from Kansas City, and part of the songwriting team of Kander and Ebb, composers of the musical theater hits Cabaret and Chicago.
