Commercial Documents Collection
Scope and Contents
The Commercial Documents Collection is comprised almost entirely of receipts of sale involving merchants, companies, and Andrew Bell and William Paterson. Also included in the collection are invoices, ledgers, and debt statements from surveyors to Andrew Bell. The sections of the collection involving Bell are sorted alphabetically by the last name of the merchant or debtor the source is associated with.
While a large portion of the collection involves Andrew Bell, a sizeable portion also contains miscellaneous individuals and companies, as well as a smaller portion involving William Patterson. Due to the varying individuals that are included in this section of the collection, they are sorted by year and type of document.
The documents included in the Commercial Documents Collection range from the early eighteenth century to the mid-nineteenth century.
