Marjorie Powell Allen Collection
Scope and Contents
The Marjorie Powell Allen Collection was gifted to the UMKC Miller Nichols Library in 2018. The collection encompasses the personal, professional, and philanthropic life of Kansas City native Marjorie Powell Allen. It contains scrapbooks, notebooks, correspondences, newspaper clippings, awards, and organization information belonging to Powell Allen. The collection also contains a number of photographs of Powell Allen from childhood through the rest of her life. In 2017 Powell Allen’s daughters, along with Leanne Seaver, wrote a biography about Powell Allen titled, Becoming Marjorie: The Life and Legacy of Marjorie Powell Allen. Two copies of the book as well as the materials gathered to write it are included in Series II of the collection.
The audiovisual materials contain recordings related to the Women's Foundation of Greater Kansas City, Powell Gardens, and Skill Builders.
