Scope and Contents

The audio series includes cassettes, open-reel tapes, and radio transcription discs, broken down by subject: Government Committees, Interviews, Speeches, Radio Shows, Campaigns, Radio Spots, Press Conferences, Miscellaneous, and Radio Transcription Discs. Government Committees (1973-1977) include tapes related to the House of Representatives’ Select Committee on Committees, of which Bolling was an influential figure. Interviews (1976-1982) include Bolling with Carl Albert discussing leadership in the House. Speeches (1960-1982) include Bolling on the topics of Vietnam and Medicare. Radio Shows (1958-1982) include episodes of a program entitled “Kansas City Looks at Washington”, which feature Congressmen such as Tip O’Neill and Carl Albert. Campaigns (1964-1980) include Bolling speeches, events and advertising spots during election races. Radio spots (1961-1976) include those for Medicare and social welfare. Press Conferences (1964-1981) include a press conference from 1964 with Robert F. Kennedy and another where Bolling announces his retirement from Congress. The Radio Transcription Discs (1950-1960) include Bolling’s weekly “Report from Congress” from the early 1950s.

Scrapbooks in box 436, covering 1948-1983, include correspondence and other documents with original signatures of several United States Presidents and other political leaders.
