Scope and Contents

The photocopy of the back cover contains a list of all of the places John was in Europe. The remainder of this folder is correspondences from John to his family ranging in date from October through December, 1918. Some letters of interest are one dated October 8, 1918, where John tells his parents that he has been on the front for eight days; this battle is revealed in later correspondences to have been the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. In a letter dated October 3, 1918, John states he has received the official news of Turkey’s surrender. On November 13, John writes from Verdun to tell his family that the war is officially over. After the war ends, John moves from Verdun to Sommedieue, France.
