Today Up to Date marks the 25th anniversary of the event with KMBC Channel 9 reporter Micheal Mahoney who was reporting on the popular 'tea dances' at the Hyatt when the collapse occured, Marty McDermod, a then-young firefighter who was among the first to respond to the accident, Darryl Levings, an editor for The Kansas City Star who was part of the Pulitzer Prize winning team of reporters who first broke the story about a flawed engineering design, and Bill Quatman, an architect and attorney who has lectured about the collapse for years.
