Contains a matted photograph accompanied with a contract signed by the composer. The Date on the contract is October 9, 1894.

In October of 1894, Dvořák was returning to New York to begin his third year of teaching at the National Conservatory of New York. Originally Dvořák signed a contract with Jeanette Thurber for a two year obligation. However, after the premier and success of his 9th symphony, Thurber requested to extend his contract for another two years. Dvořák agreed, but due to financial hardship and the threat of bankruptcy facing the Thurbers, they were not able to honor their financial end of the contract. At the end of his third year, he returned to Bohemia to never return.
