Houses nearly 3000 images in color and black-and-white, consisting of roughly 2800 35mm slides, over 100 prints, and miscellaneous negatives, dating from 1939-1996. Images have been preserved into six archival binders, each housing 500-image increments. Because most images were taken by Anderson, the photo collection is a reflection of Anderson’s wide-ranging interests. Subject matter includes music scenes and personalities, street scenes of Kansas City and other urban settings, candid shots of friends and colleagues, and miscellaneous shots of artwork, signs, advertisements, points of interest and humor. The street scenes, mostly Kansas City and Oklahoma City circa 1960s-1980s, are especially valuable as many document businesses and landscapes that no longer exist. The Kansas City shots focus largely on eastside locations, from midtown to downtown, and capture everything from popular landmarks and civic documentation to colorful hangouts and urban blight.
