Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

Sub-Series (box 2, folders 11-18) contains published promotional materials taking the form of flyers, magazine and newspaper clippings, pamphlets, etc. The series begins with club promotional materials. Folder 11 contains only promotional flyers for the Blue Note, arranged chronologically when year is indicated, and alphabetically by performers last name when no date can be found. All other club promotional material can be found in folder 12. These are arranged categorically and then further arranged chronologically. Other promotional materials contained in this sub-series include: artist press packs, college pamphlets, and restaurant advertisements. This sub series’ miscellaneous folder contains promotional materials for radio, theatre, recordings, and city travel guides. Of special interest in this sub-series are press packs for the Temptations and Illinois Jacques that contain several autographs. Oversized materials from this sub-series, such as a Frank Sinatra press book and an advertisement for Louis Prima’s Majestic release of "You Call it Madness," can be found in boxes 22 and 23. Several oversized promotional posters are contained within this sub-series. These posters can also be found in boxes 22 and 23 with the exception of posters measuring larger than 16/20, which can be found in map drawer 54.
