The handwritten speeches in 1988 and 1989 cover Marinovich’s campaign for City Council, which she was elected to in 1989. Speeches between 1995 and 1997 extensively cover the proposal for consolidating the Kansas City, Kansas and Wyandotte County governments, with 1998 speeches including observations of the new government structure. Speeches between 1999 and 2002 focus on both the construction and success of the Speedway, and the move towards additional tourism. Speeches between 2002 and 2005 cover the construction of Village West, the Nebraska Furniture Mart, the Great Wolf Lodge, and Cabela’s, as well as the Tourist Center’s success and how it helped Kansas City, Kansas’s economy.
