Photographs / Negatives, 1995 - 2003

 Series

Scope and Contents

Series is contained in six photo albums (Boxes P1-P6) and two boxes (Boxes 1 and 2) of negatives (some with contact sheets), which are organized in sleeves. There are over 1500 photographs, dating from 1995 to 2003, primarily documenting area blues and jazz festivals, such as the Kansas City Blues and Jazz Festival; the Kansas City, Kansas, Street Festival; and the King Biscuit Festival in Helena, Arkansas. Geelan captured many notable artists, including B.B. King, Wilson Pickett, Ike Turner, Junior Kimbrough and John Hammond with Washboard Chaz. Most of the shots taken by Geelan are 4x6 color shots, although there are some larger prints, too. Also included are stock publicity photos collected by Geelan. This series is sorted chronologically and, when possible, uses the original event/subject descriptions provided by Geelan.
