Photos in UMKC Digital Special Collections

This series is located in Photograph Boxes 1-14. Boxes 1-10 and 13 contain regular sized photos. Box 14 has oversized photos and display items. In Box 11 and 12, there are smaller boxes containing slides. In total there are over 1800 images of prints, stereo slides, and single format slides, dating from the late 19th century to the early 1990s. Photos are in both black and white as well as color format. Photos are of a personal and professional nature and include family as well as celebrities and political figures on local, national and international levels. Photos are sorted by subject or location and then chronologically. Slides are sorted as they were originally received and are in order by subject matter. For purposes of efficiency, when identifying photos, L. Perry Cookingham is labeled as LPC and Harriet West Cookingham as HWC. In processing this collection it was discovered that dates labeled on some photographs may not be accurate. In some cases exact duplicates could be labeled differently. Since many photos were used for publicity, some verification can be made by use of the Scrapbooks series.
