Biography

Paul Smith is a jazz pianist and teacher. He grew up in Bowling Green, Missouri, but came to Kansas City in 1965 where he began playing jazz gigs around town. He also taught junior high school band in Kearney, MO. He began playing piano with Karrin Allyson in 1990 and continued to do so until retiring from the road in 2004. He traveled the world with Karrin, playing all over the United States, Canada, Europe, and Brazil. He accompanied Karrin on 7 of her album releases. Paul has also recorded with many Kansas City artists including Gary Sivils, Mike Metheny, Arch Martin, Kim Park, Gerald Spaits, The Leonard Brothers, Kerry Strayer and vocalists Laura Chalk, Pat Wilson, Kathleen Holeman, Bryan Hicks, Megan Birdsall and Nancy Van Fleet.
