Biography

Anne M. Winter was born in Iowa City, Iowa. She moved to Kansas City to open her own independent music store, Recycled Sounds, which was considered a center for the local music and arts scene. Anne was well known as a community organizer and activist and was passionate about protecting free speech. She served as President of the Greater Kansas City Free Speech Coalition and played a pivotal role in "Culture Under Fire," its yearly free speech celebration. Anne also hosted a weekly music show on KKFI-FM radio in Kansas City.
