Biography
Lee Bohannon is an activist and community organizer in Kansas City. In the 1960s, he was the President of the Kansas City Chapter of the Black Youth of America. Following the civil unrest and riots in Kansas City in April of 1968, Bohannon became a founding member and leader of the Social Action Committee of Twenty (SAC-20), an organization that provided leadership development opportunities for young Black people and a platform for community organizing. Notable initiatives of the SAC-20 included neighborhood beautification efforts for areas impacted by the 1968 riots, as well as a free breakfast program. Currently, Bohannon is a Community Organizer for the Local Investment Commission (LINC).
