Biography
Robert "Bob” Byler had a lifelong love of jazz, especially Dixieland. He was a jazz journalist for the “Mississippi Rag” among other publications and was well known in the jazz community for recording live jazz performances and taking photos of jazz events from around the world along with his wife Ruth Byler. He also founded the Evansville Indiana Area Jazz Club, which produced four jazz festivals and many public concerts. He passed away at age 87 in 2018.

Scope and Contents
The collection contains hundreds of hours of video and audio of live jazz performances, and interviews with jazz musicians, that were recorded around the world by Bob and Ruth Byler. The majority of the materials were recorded between 1985 and 2011.
