Biography
Gary Smart is a composer, pianist, and professor who studied with Ralph Kirkpatrick, Jorge Bolet, and Oscar Peterson. Smart received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music from Indiana University. He received his doctorate from Yale in 1979. Smart is currently the Presidential Professor Music at the University of North Florida. His compositions include music for solo piano, orchestra, electronic music, and chamber ensembles.
