Biography
Orlando Otey was born in 1925 in Mexico City, Mexico. He began to play the piano at the age of two and was touring nationally by five and then internationally, by seven. At seventeen, Otey became the youngest appointed faculty member in the music school at the University of Mexico, where he eventually received his doctorate in 1942. Three years later, Otey came to the US and studied at the Curtis Institute of Music. He ended up in Delaware, teaching at the Wilmington School of Music. Otey composed for solo piano.
