Biography
The College of Arts and Sciences began as liberal arts academic programs at the University of Kansas City when it opened in 1933. Founding programs included Art and Art History; English Languages and Literatures; Foreign Languages and Literatures; Philosophy and Religion; Biology; Chemistry; Geography; Geology; Health and Physical Education; Mathematics; Physics; Economics; History; Political Science; Psychology; Sociology; and Home Economics.
UMKC Forward realigned the university's academic units and sunsetted programs. The realignment created three new schools from the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Education, the School of Biological Sciences, and the School of Computing and Engineering. The College of Arts and Sciences ended operations as of July 2022.
